When Adam and Emily McCollough decided to go into the toy business, being able to offer their customers both PayPal and credit/debit cards was important, as was mitigating the risk of fraud.
In the early days Adam and Emily McCollough only accepted PayPal but as payments had to be checked manually, it proved to be too time-consuming for the growing business. Opayo offered a seamless integration at a low price and PayPal integration.

Because fraud wasn’t a massive risk to their business, they didn’t want to invest unnecessarily in fraud prevention tools, however Adam and Emily did feel they should have some fraud tools in place to protect card users and the reputation of their business. The Opayo Go package that they use includes standard fraud screening tools and enables them to set rules for accepting or declining payments.
“We have a policy to check all orders over £50 so we’ve set a rulebase that flags higher value transactions and enables us to verify them before we commit to dispatching the goods.”
“The My Opayo area is great. It’s simple and easy to use. All our staff have access to it in order to be able to take payments from customers. However, Opayo has allowed us to set different privileges for each staff member so we can keep track of who’s accessing the account” says Adam.
